Flap Shape

Envelope flaps can take the form of two basic shapes: pointed or square. There are many nuanced styles based on various proportions of these shapes.

Baronial style envelopes have a V-shaped pointed flap and commonly feature diagonal side seams. Baronial style is popular for use on greeting cards and social stationery.

A-Style envelopes have a clean design with straight or square flaps. This is ideal for envelopes with content printed across the entire back of the envelope. The “Remittance” style is a type of square flap that extends almost to the bottom of the envelope.
