Paper Type

There are three basic kinds of paper textures for envelopes ranging from a smooth to a textured finish and an opaque to semi-transparent paper type.

Standard text envelopes have a smooth texture and thin weight or caliper. Most colored envelopes are standard text weight paper.

Cotton rag envelopes have the look and feel of handmade paper, with a grainy textured surface and torn flap edge. Cotton rag envelopes are typically white.

If you’re looking for something with a clouded transparency, vellum envelopes beautifully show off the envelope’s contents while still providing a thick layer of protection.
